Looking for an Art Tutor? ...
$35/hr for private classes
Growing up I knew I wanted to make art but I was less sure what I wanted to do as a career. Tutors and teachers helped me to get where I am today, so I want to help young artists figure out their journey too! Improve technical skills, try out a new medium, or get some guidance on a specific project! These private classes are geared toward 8th-grade through 12th-grade students hoping to expand their portfolio and prepare for their art journey after high school.

I am skilled in various media such as watercolor, acrylic, oil, colored pencil, charcoal, and digital art. We can go over general fine arts or focus on a specific medium of choice
-
Whether you are working on a portfolio for an art college or an internship we can come up with a plan together to meet any requirements recruiters might be looking for.

This isn't school, and you aren't doing art for a grade. Take some pressure off of yourself and let's experiment with mixed media or any weird concepts you may have in mind

Meet The Artist
Hello!
My name is Taina Cunion and I am an Afro-Puerto Rican comic artist and children’s book illustrator living in Virginia. In December of 2023, I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Illustration. Since then I have been working part-time as a Creative Director at a therapy practice called Your Path Counseling Center. There I design educational material utilized by the team of therapists at Your Path in sessions with their younger clientele. I also create promotional content and editorial illustrations which can be found on their social media and their online blog.
In May of 2024, I began to intern at The Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage producing editorial illustrations and comics for the center’s social media and magazine. During the 2024 Folklife Festival, I also served as a Live Sketch Artist, creating portraits and visual notes of the events and performances.
I have worked with two different self-published children’s book authors in the past. The first one I illustrated was a traditional watercolor book titled “Minnie Makes a Wish” which told the story of a young girl learning self-confidence. The second one titled “The Covid Patrol” was drawn digitally and promoted health and safety habits for children in partnership with Wingspread LLC. I have also produced multiple portraits of celebrities, athletes, and famous female activists for the anthologies of Rebel Girls.
